Strip flooring is the ideal product to optimise the use of small diameter hardwood thinnings and falling stock cut as a by-product from larger logs. All of the common hardwood species are available so please don't just think of oak.

Ash, beech and sycamore are readily available and for special projects birch, cherry, alder and chestnut can be sourced. 19mm is the standard thickness for load-bearing floors but 12+9mm overlays are also available. A number of manufacturers are able to sand and laquer the strips in the factory. See their websites for details Links Page


A number of Welsh manufacturers specialise in supplying and fitting hardwood flooring. Links Page Wide boards sell at a premium though they are prone to shrinking and warping. To get the best deal ask about narrow boards, character grades and don't just think oak!!
