There are 123,000 hectares of broadleaf woodland in Wales, 34,413 hectares which is designated Ancient Semi-Natural Woodland (ASNW). It is our most diverse terrestrial habitat. Since 1985 Coed Cymru staff have prepared 5,854 management plans covering 23,035 hectares, 19% of the total in Wales. Half of this is ASNW.
